3D Printing - Smoother prints with Cura - Acceleration and Jerk Control

I was getting a lot of vibration at the top of my Z-axis rods while printing with my CR10s. This information will also help if you are getting layer shifts. Think about it like this. You are in your car driving around town and all you have is full throttle and full breaks. It's going to be a bumpy ride. This does not affect the top speed. Just the start and stop. Acceleration and jerk control lets you ease on the throttle and ease on the breaks. You still get to full throttle and full breaks. This is what's happening with the steppers while printing. By trying different settings I found it didn't affect my total print time much. Maybe more so on smaller prints than larger prints. Compared to driving around town and driving on the highway. 

First, you need to enable the features. In Cura, click on "Settings" at the top and select "Configure Settings Visibility" in the drop-down menu.  This will bring up the Preferences box and you should already have "Settings" selected in the left side box. I am using a PC so on a Mac it may be a little different. There are several main options under settings (Quality, Shell, Infill, Material, Speed,,,). The settings you will be looking for are under "Speed". I like to minimize the others to simplify the view. 

Here are the settings you want to enable:

Enable Acceleration Control
Print Acceleration (I don't change but use the value for reference) 
Travel Acceleration
Initial Layer Travel Acceleration
Enable Jerk Control
Print Jerk (For reference)
Travel Jerk

Once you have selected these options they should appear under Print Setup/Speed in Cura.

Now you need to change a couple of values. You can try different values with these settings if you like. What worked for me is:
Enable Acceleration Control (Check)
Travel Acceleration: 1000
Initial Layer Travel Acceleration: 1000
Enable Jerk Control (Check)
Travel Jerk: 30

That's it. Any and all feedback is welcomed. In research, I have found a few people who have used these settings to fix layer shifts and to calm down the vibrations. So far I have not seen anybody post what they changed. I have done the research and tested different settings to get what I believe are the best options. I hope this simplifies others experience with these issues.
